About Ben
Meet Ben, a dynamic Franco-American artist who wears many hats: multi-percussionist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and audio engineer. A graduate with a double specialization in Music Technology and Jazz Drums from the California Institute of the Arts, Ben's artistic prowess extends beyond traditional boundaries. His unique palette of rhythmic, harmonic, and melodic elements serves as the canvas for storytelling through music. An accomplished teacher, Ben empowers his students of all ages to tell their own stories by guiding them in the arts of production, playing drums, percussion, and piano.
Ben is also a compassionate and culturally responsive music educator specializing in movement-based world music and Orff-style approaches for Pre-K through 5th grade. He designs joyful, multilingual lessons that fuse call-and-response, hand percussion, improvisation, and ensemble play—anchored in clear routines and a playful energy that keeps young learners engaged while fostering musical literacy and social-emotional growth. With experience as a lead instructor at Musical Minds Academy and an assistant instructor with CalArts’ Community Arts Partnership, Ben has taught traditional Ghanaian drumming and song, Puerto Rican Plena, and Brazilian rhythms through Capoeira, building inclusive classroom communities and performance-ready student ensembles. Fluent in French and conversational in Spanish and Portuguese, Ben brings a rich global perspective to his teaching, pairing authentic cultural context with restorative classroom practices, positive reinforcement, and age-appropriate behavior systems. His lessons are supported by strong administrative habits, music tech fluency (Ableton/Pro Tools), and a deep commitment to creative expression and community building.
