About Dylan


Dylan Gorenberg is a guitarist from Pleasanton, CA who currently attends the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music for his Doctorate in Musical Arts as a Teaching Assistant. Dylan also holds his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Thornton School.

Since moving to Los Angeles in 2015, Dylan has toured throughout the United States, EU, and UK performing in spaces ranging from small clubs to venues that have held over 70,000+ people. He has also performed on national television and lent his skills to recording projects spanning diverse genres and styles, contributing to feature films and streaming platforms such as Netflix and TTV (Taiwan Television Enterprise). Notably, he has performed as a featured instrumentalist with the Budapest String Orchestra.

Dylan has consulted for companies such as Zya (Acquired by Google), Jamfast, and Fender Guitars under their Fender Play division. Fender Play is a video-centric learning platform that eschews traditional theory-based lessons in favor of instructor-guided videos with over 1 million users

In addition to performing and recording, Dylan is an active educator in Los Angeles. Some of his students have gone on to study at UCLA, the University of Washington, and the University of Idaho on music performance-based scholarships.

Which musician has influenced you the most?

Eddie Van Halen!

What can you teach me better on your instrument than any other teacher?

I always tell my students that I learn just as much from them as they do from me. I love all styles and genres of music and want to teach you what YOU want to learn.

How did you learn to play your instrument?

I created a band with my friends, and we would play at local venues and throw shows in our garage!

What equipment do you play on today?

Like every guitarist, I have a wide collection, but my first guitar holds a special place in my heart. It's a Gibson SG that has been heavily modified since I got it. Every time I pick it up, it reminds me of why I love music.

Which personal trait helped you the most while practicing?

Just playing and practicing what I love! Music should be enjoyable.

What does your instrument have that others don't?

The guitar is such a unique and malleable instrument. If you can think of it you can do it on the instrument
